PLAINSPOKEN: Community Discussion and Screening

Join us for a meal, film screening, director talkback, and discussion!

Wednesday, October 16 11am – 1pm

This community event gives an opportunity to get together, enjoy a meal, watch a film and have a moderated conversation about the film and what makes a community.  It will be a fun event that will make you think, listen and connect.  Filmmaker Andrew Greer will join us for a brief director talkback about his experience filming Plainspoken.  In partnership with Georgia Public BroadcastingMusic in Common and Out of Hand Theater.

About Plainspoken:
Plainspoken is a documentary film that explores the people of Plains, Georgia, an unassuming town that happens to be home to president Jimmy Carter.  The film encourages viewers to think about our relationship with race as it plays out on the ground level in everyday community.  Is different divided?  Is separate really segregated?  It’s not black and white.

This FREE event will be held at the Syd Blackmarr Arts Center located at 255 Love Ave.
