The Floral Art exhibition is part of the 2nd Annual Antiques, Fine Art and Design Week that celebrates these disciplines in Tifton. The Tifton Council for the Arts is sponsoring all the activities this May, and they will occur over a two-week period.
The Floral Art Exhibit will be TCA’s specific contribution to the community in the discipline of Fine Art and will showcase various interpretations of Flowers in Art through a variety of media. Several other events will occur as well around town and in the Syd during this ten-day run.
INTRODUCTION:
The Tifton Council for the Arts is currently accepting submissions for our 2024 exhibition “Floral Art” The Beauty of Flowers. This exhibition will take place in conjunction with other presentations and seminars by local and outside presenters.
THEME:
The theme of this exhibit centers around creating art that expresses the beauty of flowers found in nature and in the kept garden. This exhibit is intended to bring attention to floral beauty that can be a gift of nature, as well as the creation of flower lovers and garden enthusiasts and may include still life depictions of floral arrangements.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
- Open to Artists who have shown in juried shows previously.
- Theme Exploration: Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme in their own way. From traditional expressions to modern interpretations in a variety of media.
- Entry Form: Participants are encouraged to fill out an Entry Form (see below) stating their intent to participate in the exhibit with a brief description of the artwork to be displayed. This information will be used to create the Title Card.
- Receiving Artwork: Limit of 3 works per artist may be submitted. Artwork may be 2D (art to be hung) or 3D (to be displayed on pedestals). All submitted hanging artworks need to be no more than 70 inches wide and 70 inches tall (including the frame) and weigh less than 50 lbs. Artwork to be hung must be prepared for hanging with an appropriate weight for a wire-hanging system. The Tifton Council for the Arts will be receiving artwork on Thursday May 9th and Friday May 10th prior to the opening of the exhibition (see dates below).
Necessary exceptions to this time frame need to be discussed prior to the week of the event. Contact Deborah Redlinger 229-387-5507 with any questions regarding the delivery process.
Artists who cannot be present but still wish to participate in the exhibit can ship their pieces. All shipping fees are the responsibility of the artist, and they should include prepaid return postage for return shipping. Due to logistical issues, The Tifton Council for the Arts requires artists shipping artwork to use a standard business shipping company such as UPS or FedEx for boxed and/or crated works.
Artwork may be shipped to the office address of TCA:
Tifton Council for the Arts
220 Second Street East, Suite B
Tifton, GA 31794
SALES:
Sales are encouraged, although artists may display works that are not for sale. Such works should be accompanied by a note indicating NFS.
A 30% commission will be collected by TCA for any work sold. Works sold may not be removed from the exhibition prior to the closing date on Friday May 24th, 2024. Artists may pick up entries from 6-7pm on Friday May 24th.
