INTRODUCTION:
“In the Eye of the Beholder: From Trash to Treasure” is an inclusive art exhibit that invites artists of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels to showcase their creativity.
THEME:
The theme of this exhibit centers around creating art from found objects –recycling, repurposing, or reusing everyday items in a creative way. This exhibit is intended to bring attention to our “throw-away” culture of purchasing and discarding possessions and packaging materials. From serious to cynical to silly, this is an opportunity to foster collaboration and community engagement by offering artists and creative problem-solvers alike an opportunity to create new objects from things we normally think of as ‘trash’ and through that creative process, breathe new life into the ’bits and pieces’ of the everyday detritus that stands in the way of developing a greener, more sustainable and cleaner environment for future generations.
SALES:
Sales are encouraged, although artists may display works that are not for sale. Works sold may not be removed from the exhibition prior to the closing date on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
RECOGNITION:
During the exhibition, the community is encouraged to vote for their favorite pieces of art. At the conclusion of the exhibition, the artists with the most votes will be awarded “The People’s Choice” award in two separate categories: 1. artwork made by kids 14 and under and 2. artwor made by those aged 15 and above.
*People’s Choice Award Winners will be announced at the closing reception on Sunday, April 14th.
